Mission Statement
The mission of the Yonkers Parking Authority is to operate and maintain municipal parking facilities, and on street parking meters, within the City of Yonkers. The Yonkers Parking Authority seeks to accommodate the parking needs of its residents, as well as, promote economic development and commerce within the City of Yonkers coordinating with other agencies and city departments to resolve parking issues, and improving parking convenience.
Parking Improvements
There are 40 parking facilities and over 3,000 on-street, single-space, parking meters to enhance the flow of traffic. State-of-the art technology is one of the tools utilized to ensure that parking within Authority facilities is a pleasant and safe experience thereby enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors alike. The Yonkers Parking Authority was the first to implement the free 10-minute feature on single space parking meters as a convenience to parkers on a quick errand. Moreover, the Authority has installed multi-space meters that accept currency bills and credit cards.
The men and women of the Authority are proud of their efforts to be part of the progressive spirit that makes up the City of Yonkers. As an Authority employee history buff has noted, "Yonkers was once called the Pearl of the Hudson and will undoubtedly regain its title once again."
